TEACHING SERIES
FOCUS: HOLY SPIRIT

Our Focus for the month of July 2025 is The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is a person, not a thing, feeling or emotion. That is why Jesus Christ used the word HE when he was making reference to the Holy Spirit.

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me”
John 15:26

The Holy Spirit is the third person of The Trinity, that does not mean He is less important. The Holy Ghost is referred to as the engine room of God.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
1 John 5:7

The Holy Spirit is a teacher, He gives us direction, He leads us into all truth.”
John 16:13

The Mission of The Holy Spirit is a follows:

  1. The Holy Ghost teaches all things.
The Holy Spirit instructs. The Holy Spirit trains and coaches.
The Holy Ghost unveils the scriptures.
    John 14:26
    Isaiah 48:27
    1 John 2:20
    1 John 2:27

This is one of the advantages we have over unbelievers. The Holy Spirit directs and guides the children of God.
  2. The Holy Spirit brings things to our remembrance. The Holy Spirit reminds us of things we read in the Word of God. In our day to day life, the Holy Spirit reminds us of things we need to do.
    John 14:26
  3. The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of the spirit and the deep things of life. The Holy Spirit decodes things. There are some things you are not aware of but the Holy Spirit will reveal them to you. At times, people might wonder how you got an information, the Holy Ghost reveals deep and secret things.
    1 Corinthians 2:9-11
The Holy Ghost can reveal the plan of God for your life to you. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13
  4. The Holy Spirit strengthens us on the inside. The Holy Spirit strengthens us by opening us to the Word of God. When we feed on the Word of God, The Holy Spirit injects the light in the Word of God into us, when the light of God is injected into us, every darkness disappears, we will be free from every affliction and oppression.
    Ephesians 6:10
    Ephesians 3:16
  5. The Holy Ghost empowers us to prevail in prayer. Jude 1:20.
It is the Holy Ghost that motivates, encourages and keeps us in the place of prayer. Galatians 5:17
The flesh does not like to pray, the flesh dislikes spiritual activities.
    Matthew 26:41
The Holy Spirit helps us to conquer the flesh.
Without the Holy Spirit we cannot pray effectively.

WISDOM

According to the Oxford Dictionary wisdom is the quantity of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment, the quality of being wise.
Wisdom is a virtue that isn’t innate but can only be acquired through experiences. Anyone interested in trying new things and reflecting on the process can gain wisdom. By learning as much as you can analyzing your experiences and putting your knowledge to the test, you can become a wiser person.

1 Corinthians 1:30

But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and sanctification and redemption.
For a child of God, God made Christ wisdom for us.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men library and upbraided not and it shall be given him.

A study Bible explains this verse as follows: “Christianity teaches men to be joyful under troubles, such exercises are sent from God’s love, and trials in the duty will brighten our graces now and our crown at last. We are encouraged to take care in times of trial that patience and not passion, is set to work in us; whatever is said or done, let patience have the saying and doing of it. When the work of patience is complete, it will furnish all that is necessary for our Christians’ race and welfare, we shall not pray so much for the removal of affliction, ask for wisdom to make the right use of it. And who does not want wisdom to guide him under trial both in regulating his own spirit and in managing his affairs? Here is something in answer to every discouraging turn of the mind, when we go to God under a sense of our own weakness and folly, if after all, any should say, this may be the case with some but I fear I shall not succeed’, the promise is, ‘To any that asked it shall be given. A mind that has single and prevailing regard for its spiritual and internal interest, and that keeps steady in its purposes for God, will grow wise by afflictions, will continue fervent in devotion, and rise above trial and opposition. When our faith has second causes, there will be unsteadiness in our minds and actions. This may not always expose men to contempt in the world, but such waste cannot please God. No condition of life is such as hinder rejoicing in God. Those low degree may rejoice if they are exalted to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom of God, and the rich may rejoice in humbling providence, that leads to a humble and lowly disposition of mind. Worldly wealth is a withering thing. Then, let him that is rich rejoice in the grace of God which makes and keeps him humble, and in the trials and exercises which teach him to seek happiness in and from God, not from perishing in enjoyment.

Importance of Wisdom:

Proverbs 19:20
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Those who would be wise in their latter end, must be taught a rule when young.

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated full of mercy and good fruits , without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Verse 13 says:
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

The above verses show the difference between men’s pretending to be wise and their being really so. He who thinks well, or he who talks well, is not wise in the sense of the Scripture if he does not leave and act well. True wisdom may be know by the meekness of the spirit and temper. Those who live malice, envy and contention, live in confusion and are liable to be proved and hurried to any evil work. Such wisdom comes not down from above but springs up from earthly principles, acts on earthly principles, acts on earthly motives, and is intent on serving earthly purposes. Those who are lifted up with such wisdom described by the apostle James, are near to their Christian love described by apostle Paul and both are so described that every man may fully prove the reality of his attainment in them. It has no disguise or deceit. It cannot fall in with those managements the world counts wise, which are crafty and guileful, but it is sincere, and open, and steady, and uniform, and consistent with itself. May the purity, peace gentleness, teachableness, and mercy, shown in all our actions and the fruits of righteousness abounding in our lives, prove that God has bestowed upon us this excellent gift.

Colossians 2:2-3

That their heart might be comforted being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father and of Christ. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Ecclesiastes 10:10
If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength; but wisdom is profitable to direct.

Therefore , to proceed to success, to execute quicker, we need wisdom.

Proverbs 3:13-15
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 16:16
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver.
The above versus emphasizes on the importance of wisdom in one’s life.

In conclusion;
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Fools are persons who have no true wisdom who follow their own devices without regard to reasons, or reverence for God. Children are reasonable creatures and when we tell them what they must do we must tell them why. But they are corrupt and willful, therefore, with the instruction there is need of a low. Let divine truths and commands be to us most honorable, let us value them, and then they shall be so to us. Obey not to walk with sinners.
Wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom. Proverbs 4:7

EL SHADDAI HERITAGE AUGUST 2023 EDITION

You are welcome to the Month of August Edition of El Shaddai Heritage

Our focus for the month of August is, CONSECRATION.

Introduction

The word “consecration” according to Webster Merriam dictionary is an act of ceremonial sanctification or a state of being consecrated. Biblically, consecration means to be set apart, separated and made hallowed for holy use. It could also be described as the act of keeping oneself from unholy, unrighteous, and unclean acts for the purpose of being used by God; the purpose of consecration is to make us Holy and fit for service. On different occasions, God demanded from His people (Exodus 19;6 … and ye shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation), the Israelites, the priests, and Levites, in the old testament that they should consecrate themselves before they could minister to  Him. Furthermore, we also have instances in the bible where definite steps were taken by individuals to stand out for God and refuse to  be defiled as the case was with Daniel in Daniel 1:8

In the same vein, in this dispensation of grace, through our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s standard has not changed and will never change for anyone who is a Christian/disciple and enlisted to minister in His vineyard. Moreso that we believers are being referred to as a “ Royal Priesthood…” in 1 Peter 2:9. Any service rendered to God MUST come from a human vessel that has been consecrated/ sanctified.

Let me mention that the words “consecration” and “sanctification” are used interchangeably in the Holy Scriptures to mean the same thing. In Leviticus 20: 7 God said to his people” Sanctify yourself therefore and be ye holy , for I am the LORD your God”.

In light of the above, consecration can be both external and internal. In the old testament, the emphasis on external appearance to depict consecration was intended to distinguish the Priests from others, the bible says that everything we read in the old testament is a shadow of things to come. For example, in Exodus chapter 28:3 God instructed Moses “And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garment to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office …”. They were also to be consecrated by the pouring of the anointing oil, eating of consecrated food, and keeping of other laws Exodus 28:41 and 29:9, 29 & 33

 However, in the new testament and dispensation of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is more of the internal or inner consecration of the heart, in other words, it starts from inside to outside.  Our Lord Jesus Christ explained to his disciple that it is not what goes inside that defiles or makes a man unclean, but what becomes from with within…;

Examples of instances or cases that God demanded consecration

  1.  Samson other and Samuel- Judges 13:2-5… And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shall conceive, and bear a son, 4) now, therefore, beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; … and he(Samson) shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines
  2. Moses demanded that the people of God be consecrated as instructed by God in Exodus 32:29

Consecration in the dispensation of grace through our Lord Jesus Christ

Read the following scriptures:

Matthew 5:11-18 “ Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man”… ,

Romans 13:14’ But clothe yourself with the lord Jesus Christ (The messiah), and make no provisions for(indulging) the flesh ( put a stop to thinking about the evil craving …)

The following are steps, attitudes, and conduct of persons who have received the call unto salvation and service of the lord;

  1. The new birth experience of being born again is the very first crucial step to entering into consecration because a new heart is given to us at this point. Read Ezekiel 36:26 “A new heart also will I give you , and a new spirit will I put within you…” Ezekiel 11:19  John 3:16, Isaiah
  2. Put to death the old man that has been crucified and purge ourselves of the works of the sinful nature to make us useful vessels in God’s hand, Galatians 2:20
  3.  Separation from the world and its way of doing things, 2 Corinthians 6:17 “ wherefore come out from among them , and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you”
  4. Renewal of our mind through the consistent fellowship with the word of God,  Romans 12-1-2, Ephesians 5:26, 1 John 1: 1-3
  5. Being filled with the Holy Spirit Ephesians 5:18, Acts 9:17
  6. Obedience to God’s commandments is key to the consecration of any human vessel that God would use.

Consequences of rendering service without consecration

Whatever service is rendered unto God from a life that is not consistently consecrated or sanctified is unacceptable and making heaven is bleak. 2 Corinthians 6:17

Conclusion: Considering the above scriptures, whatever category you belong to in the mandate of this Mission; widows, orphans and less privileged, or ministers in his vineyard, the consecration of your life is not optional.
