You are welcome to the November Edition of El Shaddai Heritage

We appreciate God for His goodness, mercies, and compassion for us and our family. We celebrated His might hands upholding us and all of ours despite the situation in our nations. May His name forever be praised.

Our topic for November is WISDOM

Sub-topic: The principal thing

Introduction

We are living in a perilous time ( 2 Timothy 3: 1) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come (KJV), people are busy pursuing different things. People are in haste to catch up with one thing or the other. This however does not exclude Christians because we are living in the world but we are not of the world. “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil’ John 17:11-14-15, unfortunately several Christians have forgotten this admonition.

We also have admonition of what to pursue Proverb 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” Wisdom is the principal thing, implies, it comes first in order of importance and with the highest priority

In Message version Proverbs 4:5-9

“Sell everything and buy Wisdom! Forage for Understanding!
    Don’t forget one word! Don’t deviate an inch!
Never walk away from Wisdom—she guards your life;
    love her—she keeps her eye on you.
Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!
    Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!
Throw your arms around her—believe me, you won’t regret it;
    never let her go—she’ll make your life glorious.
She’ll garland your life with grace,
    she’ll festoon your days with beauty.”

The bible encourages that the first on the list of our purchase (pursuit) is wisdom

Who is Wisdom?

Wisdom is a personality, according to 1 Corinthians 1:24 “but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God” The wisdom is Christ in the life of a man.

The bible in the book of Proverbs 8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. Proverbs 2:1 “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding”.

Psalm 90:12 KJV “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”

From message version “Oh! Teach us to live well! Teach us to live wisely and well!”

We only live well when we live wisely; there is no wise living apart from living daily in constant and consistent to all the instructions of God.  Any disobedient to God instruction means I am not pursuing wisdom which the bible says,  is the principal thing”, the number one in my list of purchase peradventure I have to buy anything at all in this world.

Characteristics of the Wisdom:” the principal thing “

The Bible identified the wisdom from above; this means there is a wisdom from below. However, it should be noted here that we are discussing the wisdom that is from above

James 3:17 gave us about seven characteristics of the wisdom that is from above

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Benefits of Wisdom “the principal thing”

She is a promoter, brings honour, and gives an ornament of grace.

8Proverbs 4: 8-9 “Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Wisdom builds “Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Whatever a man does is either build up or pull down. All actions, attitudes, reactions, and decisions made will be summarized on building up or pulling down

The Bible recommends wisdom as the major factor in building. Do you desire to build your home, career, ministry, relationship, society, or future generation? Wisdom from above is inevitable.

Conclusion If the bible called something “principal” seeing it otherwise does not change the word of God. The fact that people pursue worldly things does not make it principal. Pursue wisdom; in all your getting get understanding.
