TEACHING SERIES
FOCUS: THANKSGIVING
Our spiritual focus for the month of January 2022 is Thanksgiving.
The Bible says in Psalms 136 verse 1
“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.“
Psalms 136:1
“…Be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalms 100:4-5
God expects us to give Him thanks always. He woke you up this morning healthy, He did not allow your enemies to succeed against you in your sleep. He makes provision for you, he supplies you food, he puts clothes on your back, He provides a roof over your head.
Your situation might not look the way you expect it to be but you are not where you used to be. If you think very well, you will be motivated to give God thanks from the bottom of your heart.
Q – How do I give thanks to God?
A – There are so many ways you can give thanks to God.
“Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.“
Psalms 150:4
If you truly want to give thanks to God, you have to move your body, you have to dance.
Thanksgiving has a voice.
“But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of thanksgiving.
Jonah 2:9
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Psalms 9:1
From the above scriptures, we are made to understand that thanksgiving has to be expressed through our mouth. When giving thanks to God, you need to enumerate the things God has done for you.
“Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.“
Psalms 149:3
Thanksgiving must be expressed.
Benefits of Thanksgiving
- When you give thanks to God you are obeying Him because thanksgiving is a command.
“If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.“
Malachi 2:2
- God expects us to give Him thanks. When we give thanks to God, He is pleased with us.
“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”
There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”
Luke 17:17-18 - When we give God thanks our blessings are perfected.
“And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.“
Luke 17:19
That means the enemy can not have access to that blessing.
Praise The Lord.
