EL-SHADDAI HERITAGE: September Edition

You are welcome to the September Edition of Elshaddal Heritage

We are grateful to God for His faithfulness over us for the past 8 Months of 2022. Indeed “it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not “Lamentation 3:22

Our focus for September is PRAYER

Prayer is simply defined as communicating with God. it is our way of communicating our thoughts, needs, and desires to Him. Prayer is an avenue that God has provided for us as believers to make known the deepest feelings of our hearts to Him.

In the Garden of Eden God and man talked

Gen 3:8-13

8And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Prayer could also be defined as a master key to lock (1king 17:1) and unlock (1Sam 1:15-17,20) any door in the spirit realm.  However, prayers must be dialogue, not monologue to be regarded as True Prayer. This implies as we talk to God, we should be patient enough to allow Him to talk back to us as well.

Prayer could be defined as a master key that can lock any unwanted door

I kings 17:1

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

The same prayer can as well used to unlock any door in the real of the spirit

I Sam 1:15,17,20.

15And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.

17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bares a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.

 Some Ingredients of Acceptable prayers

  • Whenever we pray, we must start with praise and worship Matt 6:1,

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

  • We must recognize that God is holy and perfect in all things, hence we must confess our sins, repent, fast if need be James 5:16

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

  • All prayers must be done in spirit and truth

James 4:3

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

  • Abide in Christ and His word’s abide in us

 John 15:7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Few Scriptures that encourage us to pray

Acts 2:21

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever call on the name of the Lord shall be saved

Jeremiah 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

I John 5:14 &15

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:

And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

I Chronicles 16:11

Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

II Chronicle7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Conclusion

Prayer is a place of humility before God and generally the prayer position shows the state of our heart and dependence on God.
