You are welcome to the August edition of El Shaddai Heritage!
The Lord that has brought you this far will surely keep you till the end of this year and beyond in the name of Jesus!
Our Focus for the month of August 2020 is Consecration.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2
Consecration connotes holiness, it is associated with sacred things. it means dedicating yourself and everything that has to do with you to God. It also means separating yourself from the things of the world, detaching yourself from everything that pollutes and corrupts.
“For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:
neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”
Leviticus 11: 44-45
The Lord commands us to be Holy because He our God is Holy.
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:15-16
“…Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”
Psalms 82:6
The scripture makes us to understand that we are children of God.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:“
John 1:12
As children, we are expected to be like our father.
The scripture tells us that God, our father is good, we are equally aware that God is good going by our daily experience in life, how God intervenes in our situations, and gives us victory.
“The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.“
Psalms 145:9
God our father will not ask us to be holy if He knows we do not have the capacity to be holy.
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,“
2 Corinthians 6:17
When a man becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus, naturally, he begins to abhor anything and everything that does not glorify Jesus Christ.
Why?
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.“
1 Corinthians 5:17
The old man that was inside him is dead, remember, man is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body, once the Holy Spirit takes over the life of a man, the man of sin, the corrupt inner man disappears, why?
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.“
John 1:5
At the appearance of light, darkness automatically bows out. The Holy Spirit is superior to all spirits. The Holy Spirit is light, once He possess a man, every unclean thing bows out, man no longer has the capacity to commit sin.
You don’t have to struggle to live a Holy life, it comes naturally because that old man that was living inside you and making you commit sin, making you go against God is no longer living inside, you have a new person living on your inside and this new man does not have the ability to make you commit sin, He does not walk the sin route, He does not have the capacity to make you say or get involved in things that repulse God, He is holy.
You may be wondering how you can consistently live a Holy life. It’s easy. We shall discuss a few salient points.
You can consistently live a holy life by obeying the Word of God in totality, study and meditate on the Word of God all the time, swallow the Word of God raw, don’t be selective in obeying God’s Word.
When you obey every Word of God, you will discover that living a Holy life becomes easy.
The man of sin has nothing to feed on in your life, so, it automatically bows out.
Also, to live a holy life, you need to be broken, live a child like life.
“…“I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 18:3
When you study children, you will discover that they hold no grudge, neither are they bitter, they are quick to forgive and they seldom get angry.
That is how God wants us to live, like children. The truth is that when the Holy Spirit takes over your entire being you will marvel and begin to wonder at yourself, why? You will discover, you are no longer easily offended as you used to be.
Let us look at the benefits of consecration briefly.
When you are broken, you become a friend of God.
You have access to divine secrets.
“And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;“
Genesis 18:17
You have access to the secret of men
“Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.”
2Kings 6:11-12
Your spiritual eyes become open to things going on around you, to things that affect you, your loved ones and family members.
“And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:”
Act 10:11
You become a mystery.
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
John 3:8
When you become a mystery, no one understands you, the world no longer understands you, then, you can easily control the world, you can turn situations around easily, you are no longer a victim but a victor.
Hallelujah!
I pray that the Lord will continue to keep your spirit, soul, and body until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
SHALOM! SHALOM! SHALOM!
